Welcome to Mrs. Holley's Online Classroom Information Page!

This web site was created for my second grade students at Verner Elementary School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It includes learning activities to enhance our class work and homework endeavors. This web site is not intended to answer all the questions parents need about our school or policies and is not  an official site of the Tuscaloosa City SchoolsExternal Link. You can ask specific questions by .

This symbol - a small hand inside a large one - is displayed throughout my web site. It is to remind you that I value the trust you have placed in me. I will teach your child the fundamentals of Second Grade Academics with a goal of improving their academic achievement. I have high expectations and set academic goals that exceed state requirements. I will also teach, by example, the character qualities of loyalty, responsibility, courage, determination, orderliness, initiative, and decisiveness. This symbol is also a reminder of how important your involvement is in your child's literacy. The "National Literacy Trust" article (pdf), updated in January 2007, is a brief research summary describing that involvement. Top of page.

Homework

The homework page is normally updated by 6:00 PM each Mondsy. Please verify the correct day and date are listed at the top of the page to ensure you are viewing the most current information. Some browsers cache pages each day and you may need to hold down the shift key while clicking on the browser's reload  icon.
Spelling worksheets are available each week from the homepage. The unit corresponding to the current date will be loaded. If you need a review week or to preview an upcoming week use the "Spelling Menu" on the top left of the red navigation pane. Moving your mouse over one of the unit numbers (1-36) will display the dates corresponding to that unit.
